Congress “Missing Something”

Like you, I have been watching the last few months of bailouts. The single most important minute of any testimony given was today. UAW president, Ron Gettelfinger, nailed it. Watch this clip…more to follow.

  1. Ron Gettelfinger is my new hero. Great YouTube. The Big Three have certainly themselves to blame about their situation, however, these unfair trade agreements that have been shoved down our throats since GHW Bush (AND BILL CLINTON) are anything but “free”. Those chickens are coming home to roost. That South Korea can dump 700,000 cars in our country and we are capped at 5,000 car exports to South Korea is grand theft auto! The Japanese killed our television industry by dumping their televisions here. In the early Reagan years our tariffs were 18-20%. Now we have tariffs of 0 to 2%. And we wonder why nothing is manufactured here anymore? Gettelfinger also mentions healthcare, wages, and manipulations of currency. All key components in this nightmare. If we are to move forward, Gettelfinger’s issues mentioned in this testimony TODAY, must be addressed.

  2. Why do we NEVER hear how the “Big Three” compare to efficient companies concerning percentage of management and executive pay? Why is it ALWAYS “gawd, we pay so much to the unions”. I want to hear that GM is paying 80% to labor and 20% to management. Or is it the other way around?

  3. i listened to the hearings for hours on end today on KWMD.
really strange! don’t know what to make of the whole mess.
chris dodd kept saying, we’re holding these guys up for much more scritny for 34 billion than paulson and the banks got for 700.
another senator seemed to want to merge GM and chrysler on the spot. he kept using these creepy metaphors about chrysler wanting to get bought out… “you’re just wanting enough money to buy some makeup and a boob job, until you can meet someone and marry them… uh, i’m talking about the company!”
    egad.
