Palin’s Pavlovian Response to House Health Care Passage

I spent a lot of time in a small Alaskan church.  I’m glad I did.  It helps me interpret Palin’s evangelical dog whistles.

The title: “The Pelosi Bill Was Rammed Through on Saturday, But Sunday’s Coming.”

Seems harmless to a casual reader, but to the evangelicals? Instant salivation.  During sermons about the crucifixion, a typical preacher line goes, “Friday was a dark, dark day, but Sunday’s coming.”  Answered with many “Amens.” So, Nancy Pelosi just killed Jesus, and Sarah is going to resurrect him?

Is she equating the health care bill to the crucifixion, and the conservative comeback as the resurrection? Really? Go on, Sister Sarah, tell us how how the GOP is going to forgive us for all our sins and give us eternal life.  The same GOP whose logo has inverted satanic stars.  Anyone with half a wit of faith would call you on your blasphemy.

“We’ve got to hold on to hope, and we’ve got to fight hard because Congressional action tonight just put America on a path toward an unrecognizable country. “

UNRECOGNIZABLE?   From what? A country that lies its way into wars? A country that tortures? A country that transports prisoners to other countries for torture? A country that wiretaps its own citizens? A country that neglects its veterans; poor and sick? A country that sides with corporations over its people? A country that looks away from evidence of environmental decay?

Well, I’m fine with becoming something other than the country you recognize.

”The same government leaders that got us into the mortgage business and the car business are now getting us into the health care business.”

The reason for the bailouts in the first place, Sarah, is because decades of Republican deregulation left no one minding the store.  Former President Bush, by the way, pushed through the first bailout, and it was Bush whose 2004 campaign sought to lower barriers for home ownership!  What about the same government that employs Blackwater XE over our military? What about our justice system being for sale to the highest bidding private prisons?  All your honking about privatizing goods and services is a little late.

”Despite Americans’ decisive message last Tuesday that they reject the troubling path this country has been taking, Speaker Pelosi has broken her own promises of transparency to ram a health “care” bill through the House of Representatives just before midnight. Why did she push the 2,000 page bill this weekend? Was she perhaps afraid to give her peers and the constituents for whom she works the chance to actually read this monstrous bill carefully, if at all? Was she concerned that Americans might really digest the details of a bill that the Wall Street Journal has called “the worst piece of post-New Deal legislation ever introduced”? “

Oh, yes, last Tuesday’s decisive message that said, “Hey, Bill Owens, you’re in!  First Democrat elected to NY House District#23 since the Civil War!  Now go vote an “Aye” on the health care bill?”  Right, that one.  Betcha wish you had that $25,000 back about now.  And the WSJ? Wow, you mean Rupert Murdoch’s paper? Oh…it’s…getting…clearer.  On another note, the WSJ, last year, said you were a terrible candidate in a piece called, “Palin Failin’”…so I guess they are right some of the time.

”This out-of-control bureaucratic mess will be disastrous for our economy, our small businesses, and our personal liberty. It will slam businesses at a time when we are at double-digit unemployment rates – the highest we’ve seen in a quarter of a century. This massive new bureaucracy will cost us and our children money we don’t have. It will rob Americans of more of our freedom and further hamper the free market.”

Lady, you think the free market is eBay.  Your party deregulated that free market into such a predicament there isn’t a coupon to save it.  Check out the Gramm Leach Bliley Act, also known as the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act.  Gramm, Leach and Bliley were the trio of Republicans back in 1999 that were just swamped with constituent phone calls demanding they do something about those pesky bank regulations that prohibited the merger of investment banks with commercial banks and insurance companies.  You can use the “googles”.  Thank your lucky stars Charlie Gibson didn’t ask you about that!

”Make no mistake: we’re on course to have government commandeer one-sixth of our economy. The people who gave us Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac now want to run our health care. Think about that.”

Yes indeed.  The people that gave us Fannie and Freddie; hmmm…that would be your former running mate, John McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis.  Davis headed the Homeownership Alliance, a mortgage industry lobbying group formed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Under Davis, the Alliance’s primary goal was to step-up the number of mortgages granted-setting the table for the the mortgage crisis.  And yes, health care is kind of a big deal.  We get that.

”All of us who value the sanctity of life are grateful for the success of the pro-life majority in the House this evening in its battle against federal funding of abortion in this bill, but it’s ironic because we were promised that abortion wasn’t covered in the bill to begin with. Our healthy distrust of these government leaders made us look deeper into the bill because unfortunately we knew better than to trust what they were saying. The victory tonight to amend the bill and eliminate that federal funding for abortion was great – because abortion is not health care. Now we can only hope that Rep. Stupak’s amendment will hold in the final bill, though the Democratic leadership has already refused to promise that it won’t be scrapped later.”

“…us who value the sanctity of life…” Are you out of your mind?  You don’t even value a wolf running from a plane.  You don’t value a young girl who has been raped.  You want the death penalty and cry for more war.  You wouldn’t know the sanctity of life if it dropped dead in your lap.

”We had been told there were no “death panels” in the bill either. But look closely at the provision mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care.”

Alaskans are still waiting for your explanation of the death panels under your aborted watch as governor.  There are still over two-hundred dead who weren’t granted health care they were qualified for because of your negligence.  Your legacy is “death panels” to some Alaskan families, and not because you spouted the phrase a few minutes before Charles Grassley.

”Look closely at provisions addressing illegal aliens’ health care coverage too.”

I wonder where Lazarus lived…

”Those of us who love freedom and believe in open and transparent government can only be dismayed by midnight action on a Saturday. Speaker Pelosi’s promise that Americans would have 72 hours to read the final bill before the vote was just another one of the D.C. establishment’s too-common political ploys. It’s broken promises like this that turn people off to politics and leave them disillusioned about the future of their country.”

Hey, WE ALL LOVE FREEDOM.  Freedom from crazy is what I’d like right now.  Transparent? You couldn’t be transparent in a Saran Wrap bikini. Open? Well, you’re open for business and that’s about it. You are rich to call Pelosi on a broken promise…you said you’d be governor and you quit.  Again, I thank you for breaking a promise.

”But despite this late-night maneuvering, many of us were paying close attention tonight. We’ll keep paying close attention. We need to let our legislators in Washington know that they still represent us, and that the majority of Americans are not in favor of the “reform” they are pushing. After all, this is still a country “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” We will make our voices heard. It’s on to the Senate now. Our legislators can listen now, or they can hear us in 2010. It’s their choice.”

The majority of Americans did not vote for you.  The majority of Americans want reform.  Our voices are being heard.  In 2010, 2012, or any other 20…you will not be our choice.

Responses

  1. AWESOME ONCE AGAIN Shannyn!

  2. Is Pavlov a community organizer from Russia? Didn’t see his name on roll call for vote yesterday? Anyhow, us hoboes are happy we can freeload along with our migrant worker illegeal immigrants off you working stiffs with health care!

    • You’re welcome. We want everyone to be taken care of.

  3. “Value the sanctity of life?” I guess that doesn’t include the lives of the 46,000 Americans that die every year because they don’t have health insurance. Rolling my eyes at Sarah. Thanks, Shannyn. Hugs, Heather

  4. Great writing! Shannyn, you really know how to say what I am thinking. Keep up the excellent work.

  5. excellent dissection of crazy on a stick.

  6. The “American People” that “Part Time” Palin and Captain Crazy Bachmann are always referring to are a wonder to me. Where do they reside? Are they Nixon’s long long “silent majority” and if so, where were they during the election? Palin and her ilk will someday see that the “we the people” they refer to are those who DID NOT elect them!

  7. Why doesn’t Mrs. Palin want people to enjoy the benefits of proper health care? Why doesn’t she want the unemployed to enjoy the same health care protections that she enjoys? Why does she continually spout anger and hatred toward all who do not believe as she does. Why does she engage in dishonest fear mongering? She preaches Christian values but I have yet to see her practice them.

    • because she is a republican!

    • Well, speaking of Pavlov…she can’t run for any public office anymore, ’cause she quits. With that short attention span, she can only do sound bites. How can one get any attention unless it’s contrary to what is a logical and moral thing to do. Presenting, $$$Palin. How else is she going to keep herself in silks, the money is good, or so I hear. /snark

    • Well spoken Claudia…

  8. Shannyn, haven’t you learned? Facts mean nothing to these people. They live in an alternate reality. A statistical, verified loss in NY-23 is somehow a victory in 2010. No proof ever linking 9/11 to Iraq gets the response of “Yeah, but Hussein was a despot.” And the fact that poll after poll indicates a majority of Americans want a Public Option is completely ignored. They want their way, at any cost. And they’re willing to trample the Constitution, ignore civil liberties and bulldoze over anyone who disagrees with them.

So, you’re preaching to the choir. A parishioner with the intellect of Sarah Palin isn’t capable of understanding your well thought out commentary. But the choir sure appreciates it.

  9. I totally missed the religious quackery of her post. Thanks for pointing it out.

  10. Excellent dissection of the half-term-former-governor’s mad rant, Shannyn. She’s all for soviet-style, dictatorial pronouncements, on Facebook of all places. Some of the palinbot leaders read here and at mudflats, looking for cracks in the opposition, so I don’t think you’re only talking to the choir. They’re heads are exploding today!

  11. Hey Sarah, quit making stuff up and sit down and shut up.

  12. Great article Shannyn.

  13. biggest give-away of the complete disdain you have for her highness…. calling her “Lady” at the start of a sentence. LMFAO!

To wit: “Lady, you think the free market is eBay.”

I can see this just issuing forth from your lips, with all the disgust one can muster. Well done. She’s a nutjob and failing fast. Get some popcorn, Shannyn.

  14. Great analysis and strong commentary. Thank you for delivering as usual.

  15. What is so glaring or shocking is how delusional Sarah is! She seriously believes that she is the most imprtant person in the free world. It’s pretty frightening to watch!
And just watch in the next few weeks how she won’t be capable of handling any criticism. Because a lot of criticism is coming her way in her book of lies.
    Great job Shannyn.

    • She’s a certifiable nut case.

  16. Great answer to Quitter’s facebook and remember when Katie Couric asked her about the bailout in that infamous interview? She said it was all about shoring up the economy and creating jobs and also too about health care reform……

She has been and always will be a JOKE and FRAUD to most of us except of course her adoring fans.

  17. Thank you Shannyn. Another great article!

We shouldn’t worry if Bristol and Tripp have health insurance. Bristol can pay the premiums from the money she receives from the Alaska Fund Trust (funded by Sarah’s shorn sheeple under false pretenses), unless the lobbyists for the health insurance industry are providing it free of charge in exchange for all the lobbying Sarah has been spouting for them. Sarah Palin is such a scam artist! And many of the blithering idiots that fall for her scam probably don’t have health insurance themselves. But I suppose they believe that is God’s will be done, or some such ridiculous rot.

  18. Great reading for a Sunday morning in sunny upstate NY, Love your work Shannyn, I always use all the facts you guys present in talking with those who are of the uninformed. . .

I’d love a bumper sticker that says “Suck it Up Buttercup…”

yeh, Buttercup with your help, NYer’s in dist 23 voted democrat for the fist time in 150 years…..NO mistaking Snarah, NYer’s don’t take kindly to the likes of you trying to tell us what to do….NYer’s make up their own mind…you’ve been shown that and we’ll show you again, if need be,
    Barracuda78

  19. What I like about “her” diatribe is that she not only pretends that she wrote this piece, she also pretends that she actually read the document. It would have to have been converted to a big-ass picture book to keep her attention.

    I don’t get the Lazarus remark. 😦
    Color me ignorant.

  20. Sarah did not write that article! These are the views and opinions of her ghost writer. If Sarah wrote anything it would have said “Well, uhh, I’m gonna have to get back to ya! I know there is someone out there who knows why I am against it and everything good for our country!” Health Care, yes! Sarah Palin, ah hell NO!

  21. Right now on Palin’s facebook wall:

“Stephen Hei: Only one way to take care of Obama 7.62mm”

That women has her wall monitored for comments constantly. Why is this ok?

    Screen shot available.

    • Sybil,
That comment you mentioned should be reported to authorities.

      • That’s an open threat to Obama and I too think it should be reported. She allows these comments to be posted?

    • Agree w/Lonnie – you need to send that screen shot to Secret Service, White House, whomever. She’s crazy and most of her fanatical followers are also. That comment is too extreme.

    • Please post that screen shot or a link — and you or I should send it to Doug Neiwert at C&L as well as to the authorities.

  22. if heaven is where Sarah Palin goes, please, God, send me to Hell with my friends…

  23. You tell her Shannyn! Keep letting her have it.

    I. can. not. stand. this. woman! I can’t wait for her to eat crow.

Go away Scarah. Sit down and STFU! You had your chance, you LOST and then you QUIT! Get on with your retirement. Roll in your $$$$$. Stay out of politics!

  24. Shannyn, you wielded the surgeon’s scalpel artfully.

  25. Scarah, address your Juneteenth lawsuit. Take care of your own business. A judge expects you to respect the legal system of our country.

  26. Shannyn

Boy, I’m sure glad that I’m on the same side you are on, I would hate to be on the receiving end that Sarah is on.

That having been said, please, won’t you consider running for political office – Shannyn we need you so desperately in Washington fighting this “Era of Crazy” that we have from Bachmann, Foxx, Boehner, Graham, and any others that carry an “R” along side their name.

Please Shannyn, we need you NOW more than EVER!

  27. ORGANIC HAIR DESIGN LOVES YOU SHANNYN!!!! I thank Jesus for you EVERYDAY!!!! If Sarah was truly a fan of Jesus and what that prophet, or any important prophet for that matter, stood or stands for, she would silently retreat to her Wasilla mansion & her own private healthcare she enjoys Seems her healthcare insurance company should have rejected her for pre-existing insanity. ALASKA HAS SHANNYN MOORE to speak the real truth. Thank you sister.

  28. Citizen Palin wrote: “Those of us who love freedom and believe in open and transparent government can only be dismayed …”

Coming from the Queen of Obfuscation during her own reign of Alaska this quote struck me as richly ironic. Seems to me that Citizen Palin is not engaged in the whole process if she couldn’t be bothered to pick up a newspaper/magazine or tune into C-SPAN. Seemingly open and transparent to those of us who DO love freedom and DO believe in open and transparent government.

And this: “Why did she push the 2,000 page bill this weekend? Was she perhaps afraid to give her peers and the constituents for whom she works the chance to actually read this monstrous bill carefully, if at all?”

I would like to believe that those voting on the bill *would* have been reading it all along, complete with revisions as they came up. Not everyone pulls a college all-nighter/cram session (as I envision her doing in the same situation) when something is due the next day.

    Excellent read, Shannyn!

  29. Slam Dunk! Shannon; I too remember those Sunday sermons, and you’re right on with that analysis. It does sound she’s gleaning from the Resurrection story. But, what is disturbing is if they think the GOP is Jesus, or a tool to bring in his Kingdom.

His Kingdom, of which He said, My Kingdom is NOT of this world. Palinistas and fringe fundies are dropping the ball here. They are of the belief that Sarah and company may be the Usherer to bring the country “back” to the old days, to a Sarah and cronies Kingdom.

She doesn’t understand that nothing will ever be the same, that each new generation requires solutions that don’t fit her agenda. Her worry about “massive new bureaucracy will be disastrous for our economy” – well, duh – if a new bureaucracy helps to alleviate the suffering, then do it.
Does she even know people who are suffering from the economy? She lives in a glass house.

Hopefully, the bus tour will take her through the back streets where another part of America lives. Let her visit the hospitals, the seedier parts of town, maybe she could volunteer at the soup kitchen where no one would recognize her. Make her visit the apartment where a child with Downs family who have no resources and spiral into depression.

Maybe she ought to see the plunging spirits of those who have just lost jobs, have to sell homes, lose health insurance. It’s happening everywhere.

Someone needs to wake this woman up!

  30. The exactness with which you wield your literary instrument is a wonder to behold. Thank you for this most entertaining article; having read it I am now ready to tackle my day with a smile on my face and even more disdain for S.P.

  31. Sarah, please be so kind and give us the actual page numbers where you found what no one else can find. Be precise, dear, because at this point, you have no credibility. In fact, sweetie, I would have thought that you would have required that your ghostwriter include those magical page numbers just to boost your credibility. Now be a good girl and go take your pills, honey.

    • Really “WakeUpAmerica”? Dear, Sweetie, good girl, honey?

      Condescending much?

  32. Is this riposte hopefully cross-posted at a major news/politics blog like HuffPo?

(not to say YOUR blog is a MINOR one, Shannyn — you know what I mean 🙂 )

  33. Freedom from Crazy. I like that.

  34. Thanks for shining your light on the crazy.

  35. It’s a sad reflection on myself, but sometimes I fantasize about Palin, two years from now, politically castrated, waiting to ambush you, Tanya Harding style, in a Nordstrom’s dressing room. With security cameras running, and for all the world to later see, you drop her cold with one hard true Alaskan grown fisherwoman’s style wallup.

…I need to stop watching UFC, it gets all the wrong endorphins flowing.

Keep up the great writing and please, please, can we get you back on KUDO?

    • Awesome.

  36. I find it difficult to read anything sarah supposedly writes. As you point out, Shannyn, “You don’t even value a wolf running from a plane. You don’t value a young girl who has been raped. You want the death penalty and cry for more war. You wouldn’t know the sanctity of life if it dropped dead in your lap.”

Another irony here is that some of those babies, whose lives sarah supposedly values and is saving from being aborted, will grow up to be killers, at which point she will cry for them to be put to death.

Quite frankly, I don’t buy her right-to-life story. I don’t think this is an issue that truly moves her. I think it is a prop, like virtually everything in her life, to be used to further her personal narcissistic agenda. I don’t think she cares about anyone or anything except herself.

  37. Excellent writing. You are at your best when your gall is up.

  38. Her FB page speaks of “open and transparent government”. Someone send a dictionary as she wouldn’t have a clue as to the definition.

As to the seniors that passed on her watch, I hope the families have started law suits inclusive of her as a defendant.

  39. Imagine the synapse disconnect within such a brain that allows a person to speak so ignorantly yet write so cohesively. Don’t the sheep who follow their shepherd at least occasionally marvel at her ability to shift from a verbal Forrest Gump to a coherent press secretary?

    • They can’t cause of her winking at them. LOL

  40. Thanks soo much Shannyn for your shinning light on darkness…. Peace and Love…;-))

  41. It’s great to see the energy Sarah Palin creates by the vigorous gag reflex of comments!
It will be equally entertaining to revisit the triumph of healtcare as we get the taxes, before we get the benefits in 4 years. The swine flu lines of 6 hours will seem like the good old days.

    • The gag reflex comes from our collective bullshit meter. Palin slipped in as governor because Frank Murkowski was THAT BAD! It wasn’t until Sarah was on the national campaign trail with McCain that we realized what a complete whack job she is.

She stood there and RACE BAITED the crowds at her rallies! No wonder Sarah wouldn’t sign the Juneteenth Proclamation-a proclamation she is required by state law to sign and still won’t do it even under court order! Here’s the truth of the matter, hoboduke. SARAH PALIN DOESN’T LIKE BLACK PEOPLE! Unless they’re from Kenya and hunt witches. She also is just about the dumbest person to ever make it to the national scene and vie for high office.

As far as your made-up crap about swine flu lines being 6 hours…Socialized countries have that figured out. Read it and weep!

      http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5j0kZoEFnxMKeBtU1gFAhA9t0DE-wD9BQAGC80

      • “bs meter” will not be covered by health care! The commercial news media does use make-up, and maybe even made-up?

    • We trust Shannyn to keep watch. Sarah Palin is dangerous because she has mesmerized a group of right wing extremists that believe she is a crusader for God and America, when in fact she serves a different god. The bible warns about her kind of “christian”. Look to the “fruits” in her wake for her true colors. Vindictiveness, deception, divisiveness, haughtiness, and narcissism do not reflect the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. If it doesn’t act like Jesus – you know, caring for the sick and feeding the poor, compassion for dying world and ALL it’s people – well it probably doesn’t belong to Him.

  42. Wow. You are so right about fundamentalist dog whistles. Sarah Palin is an entire orchestra, with a dance pageant included.

  43. Great article Shannyn, right on target as usual.

  44. As always, great work, O Alaskan Patriot!

  45. Thankyou Shannyn. You are priceless and no Quitter!

  46. I only wish the bill that $P was screaming her head off about was better for the American people. You need to be clamoring for universal coverage. The public option is simply not good enough. And it will not actually have any effect for a long time to come. The vulnerable will continue to die.

  47. Thank you, Shannyn. How can people prate about the sanctity of human life while demanding that indigent illegal immigrants be denied medical care? The left side of the mouth doesn’t hear what the right side is saying? The sanctity of life is important only when the burden of preserving it can be forced on someone else? Shame!

    • Even if they have to pay for it themselves.
      ——————————————————————————————-
Shannyn, great post, as usual. I remember when W made a visit to GA back in 2003, and stated that one of his goals was to make sure that everyone who wanted a home could get one. Throughout our state one only has to look on one’s block to see vacant houses. The housing market in Atlanta is on life support. W’s ineptness as POTUS, cronyism, and failure to care for his fellow citizens/men led to crashed economies and lost jobs on a global scale. You know you have failed as a POTUS when the world celebrates wildly on the day your successor is sworn into office. W and his supporters own deregulation, the high unemployment rate, and the crash of the world’s financial systems, the lives lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, whether they want to or not. And to borrow a phrase from you that applies to Palin and all of her supporters, “Suck it up, buttercups!

  48. David Walker, former US Comptroller General and chief of the Government Accountability Office, warned before the 2004 election that if large economic changes were not made, by 2009 the United States and its taxpayers would not be able to afford the interest payments on the national debt. A study authorized by the US Treasury in 2001 found that in order to keep servicing the debt at its current rate of growth, by 2013 income taxes would need to be raised to 65%.

If the United States cannot afford to pay the interest on its debts, would that be the final stage of economic collapse and hence result in a total textbook bankruptcy? Would the systematic crisis in turn likely spread to the rest of the world, due to the financial/commercial interconnections inherent?

How did this happen? Why is the US national debt $12,250,000,000,000 as of Jan 2009? Of the 203 countries in the world today, only four do not owe others money. The collective external debt of all the governments in the world is now about 52 trillion dollars and this number doesn’t include the massive household debt in each country.

The whole world is basically bankrupt. But how can this be? How can the world as a whole owe money to itself?

Obviously, it’s all nonsense. There is no such thing as ‘money’. There are only planetary resources, human labor and human ingenuity. The monetary system is nothing more than a game… and an outdated and dysfunctional one at that. Those in positions of social power alter the rules of the game, at will. The nature of those rules is guided by the same competitive, distorted mentalities that are used in everyday “monetary” life, only the game is rigged at its root to favor those who run the show.

For example, if you have 1 million dollars and put it into a CD at 5% interest, you are going to generate $50,000 a year simply for that deposit. You are making money off of money itself… paper being made from other paper … nothing more – no invention – no contribution to society – no nothing.

That being said, if you are a lower to middle class person, who is limited in funds, and must get interest based loans to buy your home or use credit cards, then you are paying interest to the bank, which the bank is then using, in theory, to pay the person’s return with the 5% CD! Not only is this equation outrageously offensive due to the use of interest to ‘steal from the poor and give to the rich’, but it also perpetuates class stratification by its very design, keeping the lower classes poor, under the constant burden of debt, while keeping the upper classes rich, with the means to turn excess money into more money, with no labor.

Somehow I don’t believe any of us will have to worry about health care once our consumer oriented society is no longer capable of consuming. What will happen to our monetary system once millions are incapable of buying anything due to mass unemployment?

Maybe someday the un-appointed guardians of the status quo (Repulicans) will recognize their unwitting protection of positions of differential advantage…or then again, maybe they will never understand why 1% of the population have 99% of the weatlh.

  49. I really enjoyed this response to Sarah Palin’s summation of the passing of HR 3962.

Far from ramming anything through the House, Pelosi and the Democrats gave the Republicans one last opportunity to debate the bill at the eleventh hour.

    “H.RES.903
Title: Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 3962) to provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes, and providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 3961) to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to reform the Medicare SGR payment system for physicians.

    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HE00903:

Even unto the final hour the Democrats extended their hands across the isle. Sarah Palin never backs up anything she says with documentation.

Thank you for engaging her point by painful point.

  50. Sarah uses religion as a prop, just as she uses Trig.
She is simply a very dangerous, evil hypocrite.
I think all of us should email MSN and tell them to quit printing her facebook entries. That’s poor journalism, heck she doesn’t even write half of them! Enough of attention to this wicked idiot.

  51. Her brand of crazy is particularly disturbing. Her “unchristian”, “unladylike” and deploreable hatred of women who’ve worked their way to the top (e.g. Katie Couric, Nancy Pelosi, Judge Sotomayor, and Tina Fey).

She stands in judgement of others, yet can’t quite comprehend the ramifications of being that way.

I can’t believe she’s allowed that Obama comment to stay on her wall. God, they got Martha Stewart jail time for much, much less – what’s taking so long?

Thanks, Shannyn, your insightful entry is much appreciated!

  52. I really liked your post, as always.

  53. Love coming here and reading common sense. Thanks, Shannyn. Keep up the good work. Jon Elliott not on the radio here anymore so I never hear you. Don’t usually listen to Jon’s replacement.

    **********note from Shannyn**********

  54. Palin’s cult followers continue to spout their venom with increasingly clear threats of violence against President Obama, incited by her Facebook rants. She needs to be exposed for the fraud that she is, sooner rather than later!
See screen shots of these threats here, especially the last screen shot of Stephen Hei’s remark:

  55. It is incredible to me, that Sarah and those sat on the pews beside her every Sunday are so concerned about abortion, but so unconcerned about taking care of those new born babies with healthcare? She would insist that illegal immigrants be subjected to the same laws against abortion, but once born be sent packing to avoid having to provide for them. Of course, once born and forced to grow up on the streets the hard way and living a life of crime, there is no problem paying the cost of a lethal injection to end their life. Yep makes perfect sense to me, why I avoid those same hypocritical pews every Sunday! Unless of course, I have a gay friend in town, looking for one of those born again pastors railing against same sex marriage and then seeking out male prostitutes!

  56. Well done! Thanks.

  57. Miss Shannyn: AMEN on this great article/post!

Palin is a “raving lunatic” and I hope that more and more people (using the brain our Creator gave them) will see this!

I would LOVE to see some intelligent females (such as yourself, Rachel Maddow, and others debating this crazy lady in person on national t.v…..That woman would not stand a chance….!

It “boggles” the mind that some people actually listen to her….I just shake my head and keep wondering “why”????

  58. Shannyn – I sure hope you blog about the latest Carrie Prejean news. It seems as though TMZ obtained a XXX sex video of Carrie Prejean in a “new solo” career. Evidently Pageant lawyers played the tape in court and Carrie’s mom turned “white as a sheet” as they put it.

Carrie’s lawyers dropped the million dollar lawsuit….

I wonder what Saint Sarah thought of the latest about her little protege?

Perhaps a remake of the movie “Carrie” with Carrie playing Carrie, and Sarah Palin in the Piper Laurie role.

Can’t you just see Saint Sarah yelling that infamous line, as Carrie leaves for the prom; “They’ll all laugh at you…”

  59. This is up on Huff Po. too

  60. Thanks for setting the record straight again and following her fiction with the facts!

  61. “The Pelosi Bill Was Rammed Through on Saturday, But Sunday’s Coming.”

We won’t even discuss the Freudian implications there…

  62. I can not believe that CNN and ABC are both giving coverage to Palin’s FB posting about “death panels”…again. I have written many times requesting that they not cover her postings until she agrees to on-air interviews. Maybe if they heard from a few hundred (or thousand) like minded individuals and if people like Rachel Maddow sounded off on the subject then it might at least draw more attention to the big question: why doesn’t this “maverick” come out from the shadows to make her comments? If she is the “rogue” that she says that she is, why won’t she speak publicly and off-the-cuff instead of hiding behind twitter and Facebook?

    • I noticed that myself – but they wouldn’t dare comment on the post Shannyn so eloquently elaborated on. President Obama expounded on it briefly in a roundabout way by saying this is not a bill about abortion, it’s a bill about healthcare.

  63. So Jesus says to Bartimaeus and his blind friend, Sorry, gentlemen, that is a preexisting condition.

  64. AWESOME Shannyn…These people truly believe the things THEY can’t remember because their recall is about 6 minutes;

WE can’t remember – WRONG..AND, we can actually provide documentation of the FACTS…These are amazing people these poorly informed (or non-informed in most cases) twits….It concerns me that so many people in the MEDIA are actually promoting this fool to some position of prominence! She is truly a menace.

  65. Well, that’s telling HER. Because what us here on the clever side need is someone who gets invited to come on and look blonde on teevee and be all fact-free and red-faced. Who needs cogent — we need us our own Ingraham, who can get infuriated and still look good! And be all connected to the subject, that’s good too.

Look. If you bring up a point, then have an actual response. The 72-hour thing? Pelosi actually did break her promise, and all the flecks of foam flying through the air toward Palin? doesn’t change that fact.

Talk about Pavlovian response. Who is reacting as if *Palin* has responded? Someone Not Palin put words up on — this really needs to be acknowledged — a Non-Politically-Connected Public Message board. You react as if she just stepped up and had a conversation on MSNBC.

At this point, darlin’, you’re a big part of the problem — but gosh, you’re on HuffPo, isn’t THAT exciting! And they’ll probably have you on KO, too. Whoopee, you’re going to look great!

Don’t forget to be insulting, and bring up old news, and slide around the whole women’s health thing — because as long as there’s Palin Bashin’ to do, you are going to be the Blonde In The Know, and honey, that’s really what its all about.

Because if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t slaver at the sound of the far-off dinglebell.

    • Sorry, do you really have a problem with me being on MSNBC? or blonde? or a woman? or having an opinion about someone? Do you think I became political or found the media the same time Sarah did? Sheesh, man…whatever.

  66. Oregonbird, what is your problem? lol……..why shouldn’t Shannyn respond to Scarah’s facebook post as if it was written by Scarah? It’s supposed to be written by her, correct? so why not address what it says as if you’re talking to Scarah?

And if you don’t appreciate it, please by all means don’t come to Shannyn’s blog.

Do you have a blog we can visit?

  67. The surest way to get a troll to crawl out of its tea bag is to criticize Sarah Quitter Palin.

  68. There’s a very good reason not to buy into a false premise — you lose the argument. If Palin’s ghostwritten Facebook postings had been ignored as non-newsworthy, which they were, she would have had to enter the actual political stage for coverage; nothing but good would have come from that. But gradually, because of familiarity and press/blogger acceptance, Palin’s Facebook has become an untouchable political tool. Of course, this came AFTER her tweets were assiduously reported by Alaskan bloggers as legitimate news.

I accept Shannyn as she presents herself, as a legitimate writer and reporter of the new order. That means I expect basic ethics and responsibility from her, while expecting nothing of the sort from the old guy down the street, who also has a blog, and raises cain on pet subjects — but strangely enough, is SO not a legitimate news source!

But she’s still young to the business, and can honestly do better. There are hundreds of people making a living ranting maniacally about their own little tree stump; the right-wing hardly has a lock on knee-jerk invective. But Shannyn could very well be a voice for Alaska to the lower 48. If she gets pigeon-holed as the Sarah-hater, how effective will she ever be as an actual reporter and voice when that boat has sailed?

I’m taking the long view, and yes, that isn’t comfortable. But I’m willing to bet that Ms. Moore not only has a thicker skin than you imagine, she’s got the sense to know that a one-trick-pony doesn’t have much of a lifespan.

I respect her, and want Shannyn to succeed — and since when does anyone do well if everyone around them tells them nothing but exactly what they want to hear? Holy Shades of Jackson & Britney!

How boring would it be, anyway, if everyone just came on, as you suggest, and did the dittohead shuffle? Honestly — yawn. Right?

    • Oh Oregonbird, I wouldn’t call YOU a “one trick pony”. Delusional, egomaniacal, but not a “one trick pony”. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

      • Straight to the personal insult, when you have no reply to the actual post. As I said, the right doesn’t have a monopoly on certain tactics.

        • No my dear, once again you’re wrong. It would be GAY to the personal insult. Girlfriend there ain’t nothing “straight” about me! You shouldn’t ASS U ME….you know what they say about that, right?

    • Thanks for your post. I know very well what you are saying and it has been a concern of mine. I think there is a fine line. The day I wrote a well read piece for Huffington that never mentioned Palin was great. I would rather write about pretty much anything else…but no one else picked up and wrote on this topic, so I did because I though it was important.
This post has had the fewest trolls…I think because they didn’t have much to argue with. Thanks for your thoughts.

  69. […] Palin’s Pavlovian Response to House Health Care Passage I spent a lot of time in a small Alaskan church.  I’m glad I did.  It helps me interpret Palin’s evangelical dog […] […]

  70. Beautiful disection. I hope Oprah is taking notes.

  71. A must read review of Palin by David Frum, a prominent member of the GOP:
    http://www.frumforum.com/the-palin-fantasy

(Of course, Mr. Frum has been critical of Palin before which has cost him within his party. )

Many of the comments regarding his article are in agreement with Mr. Frum, but when you get to the comments from rabid Palin fans, your blood pressure is likely to go sky high.

  72. ‘After all, this is still a country “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” We will make our voices heard.’

Yep, Saree, and this people is asking you to shut up and go away – can you hear me now?

    • Public figures who spread misinformation should be exposed and mocked until they go away or shut up. Good thing there is a lot to laugh about when it comes to Palin.

  73. Outstanding post Shannyn. Well done.

  74. Go Sarah
    Take the WH in 2012
Send the muslim socialist back to Kenya

    • @ fy Palin’s kook worshipers like you are a good part of the reason she will never win another election.

    • “…when religious extremism is in the mix, the American people need to realize the social and political dangers of the Sarah Palin Trojan Horse”

  75. Shannyn, you probably missed this, but Bob Inglis, the very Conservative but not insane SC Congressman — the one who told his constituents to ‘turn off Glenn Beck’ and immediately got four primary opponents — gave a beautifully subtle backhander to The Baroness.

    To quote him:

“I’m concerned about abortion,” Inglis said. “It’s very much a concern to me. The hard right really doesn’t care about abortion. They just want you, government, out of their pocketbook, by golly.”

  76. It’s confusing to know what’s being done in Washington DC! They were talking about health care for everyone, then insurance reform, and now they are proud about passing something. Sauerkraut and lobbyists money work pretty good on helping things pass. Same result.

  77. You can get Sarah’s masterpiece for free on Newsmax.com. Last week on that site you could get it for $4.97. Going down, down, down. By next week, they will be offering to pay you to take it.

  78. I have visited your website and I would like to congratulate you on building such a valuable online resource.
I am sure your visitors find your site as useful as I did.

  79. healthy Post, Continues with your good job. I’m seek for this good words

  80. Nice Article..,I know your site from Search Engine, thanks to your info,I love your site,my site also same nichie with your site…thanks

  81. spam alert!^ (Times 3)

Spammers are getting a little more sophisticated. Not only do they use the ‘love your site, check out mine’ schtick of the one above, but they have begum copying passages from the main post. At least one seems to be willing to do the work of spotting key topics and pasting in a seemingly relevant piece agreeing with it, then suggesting people come to see them.

When they don’t betray their problems with the English language like the posts above, it sometimes is hard to spot them and I think some of them even get around word verification tests.

I hate to think that blogs may have to eliminate click-throughs for comments — as does WASHINGTON MONTHLY and some SciBlogs (I believe), so I hope someone has a better solution.

In the meantime, I am removing all my own pointers to my (rarely-maintained) blogs.

  82. websitetrader have these been pinged?
