The Palin Facebook Doctrine

I wonder if the former governor of Alaska isn’t holed up in some Kaczynski style cabin, blathering out her Facebook Manifestos. When Dick Cheney pops up like a whack-a-mole on Cialis, and you can bet Palin won’t be far behind.

The Underwear Bomber and President Obama’s response needed a special Palin edition;

It’s War, not a Crime Spree

President Obama’s meeting with his top national security advisers does nothing to change the fact that his fundamental approach to terrorism is fatally flawed. We are at war with radical Islamic extremists and treating this threat as a law enforcement issue is dangerous for our nation’s security.

Looky, talking points: check! The President is quite aware of the War On Terror.  Remember how you thought he’d listened to you a month ago about sending another 30,000 troops to Afghanistan? Right…did you think that was to fight the War On Burkas? The Fashionistas?

That’s what happened in the 1990s and we saw the result on September 11, 2001. This is a war on terror not an “overseas contingency operation.” Acts of terrorism are just that, not “man caused disasters.” The system did not work. Abdulmutallab was a child of privilege radicalized and trained by organized jihadists, not an “isolated extremist” who traveled to a land of “crushing poverty.” He is an enemy of the United States, not just another criminal defendant.

Curious you’d bring up the 1990s.  Like most Americans you were most likely watching the OJ Simpson trial in October, 1995.  We all felt sad for Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman; and a fallen sports hero is always captivating.  At the same time, then Federal Judge Michael Mukasey was  presiding over the trial of the so-called “Blind Sheik,” Omar Abdel Rahman. He was found guilty of conspiring to blow up five locations in New York in a ten minute time span. Targets included the United Nations, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the George Washington Bridge and a federal building that housed the FBI. Kind of a badass. I know…the “Trial of the Century” was OJ’s, not that of a terrorist. Apparently “the American People” don’t find terrorists “sexy” enough to follow along on the TV.

It simply makes no sense to treat an al Qaeda-trained operative willing to die in the course of massacring hundreds of people as a common criminal. Reports indicate that Abdulmutallab stated there were many more like him in Yemen but that he stopped talking once he was read his Miranda rights.

Is this the part where you say, “Shoot first, ask questions later”? Hey, Sar, remember the Shoe Bomber? His name might not have sounded so…well, Islamic to you; Richard Reid.  Only three months after 9/11 he tried to blow up a plane. YIKES!  He was tried in criminal court by the Bush administration and is sitting in an American super-max prison for life.  Judge William Young explained to him during the trial, “You are not an enemy combatant, you are a terrorist’ … ‘You are not a soldier in any army, you are a terrorist. To call you a soldier gives you far too much stature.” I’ll save you the google…Judge Young was appointed by President Reagan. What the judge got, and you fail to, is clear. If you treat them like “soldiers” you honor them as such…treat them like the criminals they are, then throw away the key.

President Obama’s advisers lamely claim Abdulmutallab might be willing to agree to a plea bargain – pretty doubtful you can cut a deal with a suicide bomber. John Brennan, the President’s top counterterrorism adviser, bizarrely claimed “there are no downsides or upsides” to treating terrorists as enemy combatants. That is absurd. There is a very serious downside to treating them as criminals: terrorists invoke their “right” to remain silent and stop talking. Terrorists don’t tell us where they were trained, what they were trained in, who they were trained by, and who they were trained with. Giving foreign-born, foreign-trained terrorists the right to remain silent does nothing to keep Americans safe from terrorist threats. It only gives our enemies access to courtrooms where they can publicly grandstand, and to defense attorneys who can manipulate the legal process to gain access to classified information.

I know this may be a dumb question…but how do YOU know what works with terrorists? As many Alaskans and former McCain campaign workers can testify, you don’t take any prisoners.  Truth has no bearing on who you deem guilty. Zacarias Moussaoui was convicted for 9/11 and has had his appeals process denied. Most Alaskans followed the Federal trials of Ted Stevens and the rest of the Corrupt Bastards Club.  Did you know those neat little watercolor drawings they show on the news aren’t just quaint…they are there BECAUSE THE FEDERAL TRIALS AREN’T TELEVISED!? You should know; it’s hard to grandstand without a camera present.

President Obama was right to change his policy and decide to send no more detainees to Yemen where they can be free to rejoin their war on America. Now he must back off his reckless plan to close Guantanamo, begin treating terrorists as wartime enemies not suspects alleged to have committed crimes, and recognize that the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor.

– Sarah Palin

My Goodness, I’m sure the President will be so glad to hear you liked something he did. News Flash: Guantanamo needs to be closed.  It’s a terrorist factory. Your posturing to know what the War on Terror needs from a Commander-in-Chief is hi-larious.  You didn’t even understand “what it is the vice-president does” before you faked your way through the campaign.  You didn’t even know what Western Alaskans needed to NOT STARVE while you were governor.  I realize any expertise on the Constitution would only get in the way of the “Palin Doctrine”.

In What Respect Sarah?

  1. Excellent, Shannyn!!! Will we be seeing this on HuffPost soon? It continues to amaze me that her ghostwriter(s) intimate that President Obama follows Sarah’s directions and ideas, that he doesn’t make decisions on his own. And then for her to believe the tripe they force-feed her…. leaves me without words.

Your closing line is perfect – gave me a great chuckle!

  2. Don’t hold back next time, Shannyn.

  3. “the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor”? Really, Sarah? So you’re advocating–what? A military dictatorship?

    Me, I kinda like democracies.

    • Excelllent! No wonder you were banned from the book signing. lol

    • It really must gravel $P that the resumes of the past two Democratic Presidents includes their years as professors of constitutional law.

      • Mrs TBB- Don’t worry Sarah knows how to use Wite-Out on her resume.

  4. The Twitter Queen and her fan club are stuck in Never Never Land.

It is so sad to see these adults(?)–(can I call them that?) display their rabid devotion to this shell of a human.

    • Truly. I’ve speculated for some time now that Rev. Muthee actually prayed the devil INTO Sarah Palin in that oft-seen videotaped witchcraft ceremony. She seems to be an empty shell with some kind of evil force occupying her essence, and there are apparently a significant number of people who are oblivious to the evil in her — or they’re willfully ignoring it because of their own tinge of evil.

  5. It amazes me that she can believe for one instant that anyone thinks she writes her posts.

It would require that she stays informed. Hah!

  6. Shannyn, you are being far too generous. She didn’t realize what a governor was supposed to do; guess that is why she had to quit, “it was just too hard”. I am sure Queen Quitter of the North would really be in a snit if she realized that President Obama spends absolutely zero time considering what she thinks about anything. Just go and work on your Bowling League speech that is coming up soon and leave the important things to those who actually analyze a situation before issuing their opinion on Facebook, and expect the world to take them seriously.

  7. FACT:
Sarah Palin does not write the Facebook postings.

    We have proof.
Just compare the writing styles and the content of her book versus what is on Facebook.

    • True, I should have said before having your lackeys issue a statement on FB

    • Well, s’error palin did not write “her book” either.

      • But we do know she writes most of her tweets. There is an example of Palin writing style….Oh! meant to say lack of writing style.

        • Twitter is such an apropos medium for a twit, don’cha think?

          • “You betcha!”

  8. Birka?

I admire you, Shannyn, and read you as often as you post, but while I overlook misuses of “it’s” vs. “its” – not that you do that – I think your credibility is higher when you spell things correctly.

I googled “birka” and, of course, it’s not what you had in mind. What you wanted is “burka”:

A burka is a dress made from felt or karakul (the short curly fur of young lambs of the breed of that name).

    • I see Burka is mispelled…

But Albert, I think you are the one who has a misunderstanding of “its” and “it’s”. It’s is a contraction meaning it is. Shannyn uses that properly: “It’s a terrorist factory”= IT IS an terrorist factory. Proper usage.

“Its” is the possessive form of it.

I think YOU’RE (you are) SPLITTING HAIRS!

      • Hey, Martha! You’re ( you are) fab! Thanks!! I love Shannyn
down here in the nether regions (hinterlands)of Missouri!! Everybody is quite the wit!!

      • Hi, Martha. I do know the difference between “it’s” and “its” and I did say “not that you do that” in my comment … I just see them used incorrectly everywhere.

My bad was to bring that up in the same breath with birka vs. burka, which was only confusing the issue. Sorry ’bout that. I’ll try to stay on topic in future. 🙂

  9. that she put that crap out there – especially recognizing that legions of ignorant “fans” will believe it – makes my BP go up. the height of hubris for this woman to pretend she has a better handle on what goes on than the president of the united states. i am SO SICK of these right wingers slamming the administration just because they’re democrats! gawd this woman is a menace.

    • It would be to the best interests of our home, the Earth, if we’d get rid of the R party and the D party and start working on local, state, national, and global issues as humans.

  10. Dear Ms. Mansour,

Please ask timmy mcveigh how that showcase grandstanding terror trial thingy worked out for him. Oh, thats right. He is WAY dead. Executed for domestic terror in OKC….

    • Bingo!

McVeigh, the former US soldier, and his side-kick Terry Nichols, were treated as he should have been: as a murdering criminal. He was put on trial in accordance to our laws and dealt with in accordance to our laws. The same with the blind sheik.

But s’error palin doesn’t like American laws. Which laws would she like followed? Those of William Bonney, John Dillinger and Clyde Burrows? Or those of the AIP?

  11. Thank you, Shannyn! I was so furious when I first read her FB drivel that I couldn’t even think straight. You addressed what needed to be addressed succintly and intelligently. It makes me insane when she denegrates the President for being a constitutional scholar; what a joke coming from someone who barely made it out of community college. But I guess it’s a poor reflection on her, her bitterness and envy showing. And does she really think we are so stupid that we would believe she wrote that FB post? I really am getting to the end of what I can tolerate from this hot mess of a person. I pray for someone to expose her SOON.

    • She should be struck down with lighting from God for all her lies and deceptions.

    • Palin had better concentrate on making sure Levi does not spill the beans on who’s baby is whom in the Palin’s household and leave foreign and domestic policy to the people that know them.

  12. Thank you Shannyn. You said exactly what I wanted to say when I first read Palin’s drivel.

  13. I wish quitter Palin would go back to her house and look for trouble from Russia. After all she said she can see it from her back door. This woman is such a failure and what I have seen of her shows that she isn’t a very good parent. She makes family values a joke. Someone should tell her when she goes on the book tours and she and Todd wear warm jackets they should make sure the baby has on a jacket and socks and shoes.

    • It’s kind of scarey the way she carries her baby on her hip like a bag of spuds.

  14. Now thats throwing a hard right to the jaw! Old mooseshit is down for the count.

  15. Damn girl, you out did yourself once again!
Thank you for that wonderful post, for telling Palin everything most Americans would like to say to her.
She really, REALLY, pisses me off with her little political temper tantrums.
Look at Me! I was a Guv. for 12 months!!
That’s how she appears to us faux-Americans.
I can’t wait for whatever kind of skeleton comes out of her closet, just so long as she SDSTFU!

  16. “When Dick Cheney pops up like a whack-a-mole on Cialis, and you can bet Palin won’t be far behind”. Priceless!

  17. Great going Shannyn! You definately put her in her place. Problem is…she wont stay there.
But all the better for us Palin’bashers.

  18. I wish for all of you in Alaska and the rest of the US a very Happy and
Better New Year from south Missouri!! I appreciate all of your input!! Thanks!

    • Ditto. Same thoughts from northern Missouri.

  19. Shannyn, you nailed it!

Believe it or not, however, I’d like to see her try to run for office again just to have to face the press.
The national press could then ask her specifics about her facebook posts. Let’s see her answer those questions without their ghost writer at her side. If we thought she looked stupid during her interview with Gibson & Couric, let’s see her try to run for President and not be able to blame her problems on it being someone else’s campaign staff.

I’m really crossing the fingers and praying that the powers that be in Alaska don’t let her get away on these e-mail charges. Open and transparent government, bullsh*t!!

    • She won’t be running for anything anymore, not even Wasilla dogcatcher. Truth is, she can’t handle the heat. She lacks the spine.

  20. Me thinks Palin is jealous of the president’s educational accomplishments, and she is too dull to realize that President Obama doesn’t have to CHOOSE between being Commander in Chief and a constitutional law professor because he is both! Just because she barely crawled out of colleege with a degree in journalism doesn’t mean the president did. Few people at the colleges she attended remembers her, including the professors whose classes she muddled through, but the president’s college classmates, especially in law school, will probably always remember that he was editor of the law review publication.

  21. Hey Mrs. Scara, you would be wise to take up hunting with your mentor Mr. Cheney. He let two of those AQ types out of Gitmo to train ‘pants on fire’. Take a short cut through the woods.

    • I would look forward to Palin hunting with Cheney. Remember Cheney is a poor shot!

  22. I am so embarrassed when I read her ghost-written FB posts! It just screams of a “wannabe” who is not intelligent enough to understand the complexities of world issues. It amazes me how anyone can take her seriously as a politician. I will give her credit for playing her fans to the hilt and being a true manipulator, giving her worthless two cents to those loonie, closed-minded individuals. I feel sorry for her rabid fans.

    • I give Sarah Palin credit for bringing Alaska into the forefront of national politics. Your job is done now Sarah. Please retire back to your two big houses on the lake in Wasilla. We have corruption to clean up and you are a distraction.

  23. Heh. Everybody knows the proper spelling of “burqa” is برقع.

    Lighten up, Albert!

    • Jim, I wrote my comment a bit further down, rather in this “reply” column.
      Sorry!

  24. That facebook screed was just pitiful, really. Pretty much bullshit in every line. I’d far rather have a constitutional scholar as president than a *cough* soldier.

And yes, treat attempts at and acts of terrorism as criminal matters. Otherwise, the terrorists have undermined the Constitution and we are complicit.

  25. Face the Nation, Meet the Press, or STFU!

    • OH, I’m trying to stop laughing…

      • copyright, sjk from the belly of the plane.

Feel free to use as required Shanny. Send the royalties to Ann Strongheart!

    • Those words should be on a bumper sticker…

  26. Great post Shannyn. This will assure you remain on the palibanned list. I guess we knew she would need someone to put her two cents in for her, after the silence of the holidays. Gee, I wonder if and when S’error is going to join the American Third Party?

    • She’s already part of a turd party. But it’s not an “American third party;” rather, it is the secessionist-loving AIP.

  27. “Could someone tell me please, what exactly it is that a Vice President does?” Sarah Palin-2008

  28. Thanks, Shannyn! Great response!

I voted for President Obama because he specialized in constitutional law. I voted for a leader, Commander in Chief, not a war monger. After all, this is the oldest existing constitutional republic in the world. A constitutional republic governed by laws, and not by men. And based upon liberal principles, i.e., freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc.

I thank God that white-headed, red-faced guy and Palin lost the election. Lies are what got us into two wars. And the lies in Palin’s book prove she will deceive.

    Anyway, thanks, Shannyn!

  29. sjk from the belly of the plane….Love it! That should be a tee shirt and a bumper sticker.

    Shannyn….amazing smackdown on Palin’s incredible nonsense, ghost-written FB B/S! I heart you!!!!

    • seattlefan, Thanks! I posted the ‘adult’ version on IM a few days ago and got good feedback! MTP or STFU!

      • LMAO!!! I sooooo love it!

  30. I almost lost it with the Dick Cheyney comment! I absolutely would love to see her on Face the Nation and Meet the Press, but she’s not even qualified for Sesame Street.

Someone once said that even a broken clock is right twice a day, poor Sarah can’t even beat that.

Thanks again, Shannyn. I love reading your insightful and witty posts and visiting your blog is always a pleasure!

  31. Love your post Shannyn. And the photo of her mean face says it all. I knew you would nail her. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

  32. Obviously, SP doesn’t know what the presidential oath of office is: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Defend *the Constitution*! That’s why a Commander-in-Chief who doesn’t honor the Constitution is more dangerous than a thousand terrorists. (That goes for Cheney and W too.)

  33. Jim89048 @3:50
That was short, correct and to the point!
    Thank you!
Typos are one thing, unwillingness to research the spelling of a word in another language is something quite different.
As the keys for “i” and “u” are adjacent to each other on the keyboard, I would assume that Shannyn knew the proper spelling of the garment, and originally overlooked her error in typing.

  34. Thank you what a wonderful piece.

  35. Bailin’ Palin continues to amaze with her complete lack of political intelligence or real intelligence. (Shannyn, the whack-a-mole on Cialis reference made my morning…) I have to agreee with sjk from the belly of the plane: M$. Palin, although your kind of word salad and rhetoric might have some appeal to some, those of us who acutally think rationally would love to see you make an appearance on a show like Meet The Press, or Face The Nation. Until such time as you can crawl out of you little hidey hole, whever that might be, and answer some REAL questions without dodging them like you did with Ms. Couric, please feel free to shut yer big yapper.

  36. Thank you, Shannyn! I love your Palin whack-a-mole. Again, you nail it every time. Square on.
Maybe het Palibann should have a closer look at that Constitution her own self.

  37. Excellent piece, yet again. The way your mind works is fascinating.

  38. Yanno… there’s just something wrong with s’error palin. Let’s look at an example:

Rapists, most of us will agree, are domestic terrorists of the most vile sort. Yet, a mayor of Wasilla, s’error wanted the victims of rape to pay for their own rape kits. A key item in getting rapists behind bars required payment from the victim.

Perhaps s’error is just too blessed stupid to understand the benefits of being a nation of laws or how those laws work for the benefit of our nation.

Or it’s just a matter of her being a clueless blowhard.

  39. It’s just that this kid wasn’t “trained” in anything, he was “talked in to” this. Training would have involved letting him know that you can’t light PETN on fire (realistically) to make it explode and covert actions are best don OUT OF SIGHT. I am going to go out on a limb and say….This kids does not know anything we don’t *including the fact he was being talked into doing something stupid. The best thing in the would that could have happened to him is get arrested. I am no softy, so people you can not talk to or try in court. But this, this is a sad little kid talked into something stupid/deadly who was probably sick of hearing western jokes about a having a rich Nigerian dad.

  40. I am seeing a theme here with palin and all the
tea baggers one that needs real scrutiny.
Why are they advocating a second judicial system?
Right now it is just for those foreign terrorists.
But why are they not advocating for all terrorists to have military trials? Why didn’t they want Timothy McVeigh, a terrorist that did kill hundreds of Americans in a military court? Or the terrorist that killed Dr. Tiller and the terrorist that killed in the Holocaust museum?

These people also killed Americans. But, they were more in line with the tea baggers hatred of abortion and all things POTUS Obama.

What they are looking for is a second tier of justice, one tied to the military, not the judicial system of the Constitution.
I really, really wonder why this is.

Please. Somebody in the mainstream press has got to challenge palin to explain her manifestos. And I don’t mean Shwan hannity.
She should be asked to go on Meet the press and explain all these incredible insights she could not articulate while running for VP.

  41. great !!!!!!!!!!!!
question: think baseball, can we trade palin
to yemen for a pile of sand and a terrorist to
be named later ??? that way dr. evil cheyney
and his evil daughter elvira would still have
    sometihing to fearmonger about ???
    just a thought.

  42. Commander-in-Chief instead of a struttin’ beauty queen. Betcha!

  43. Does Ms. Palin know that it was her own mentor’s (Dick Cheney) policy to send detainees to Yemen through an arrangement with the Saudis? http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2543159bush_released_gitmo_detainee_to_yemen.html

And doesn’t Ms. Palin know that some of these released detainees (under Cheney’s direct orders) are the very people who plotted the most recent terror attempt?

So Ms. Palin, please tell me again how Cheney, Bush and the republicans made this country safe.

  44. It’s always good to see a king hit delivered to another bit of insane drivel by Palin. (or whoever’s pushing her biro these days) It’s even more pleasing when it’s delivered with such panache and surgical precision.
    Nice one Shannyn.

  45. Great idea, but will this work over the long run?
