X-ian Terrorist Roeder Gets Life In Prison

Today in Wichita, a judge sentenced an anti-abortion zealot convicted of murdering a prominent Kansas abortion doctor to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 50 years.

Scott Roeder gunned down Dr. George Tiller in the back of Tiller’s Wichita church last May.

I guess America is completely capable of prosecuting terrorists on American soil.

A few hours after Tiller’s death I wrote this on the Huffington Post:

Christian Fundamentalist Terrorism.

It’s shocking to write. But it’s time to start calling it what it is.

When Jim D. Adkisson walked into the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church with 76 rounds and a shot-gun, he killed 2 people and was charged with murder. His motive was “he hated the liberal movement” and was upset with “liberals in general as well as gays.” He should have been charged with terrorism.

Sunday George Tiller, a Wichita doctor, was killed INSIDE the lobby of his Wichita church. Reformation Lutheran Church became a crime scene; fundamentalist terrorism.

The right wing media hacks make targets of the left. The fundamentalist reverends blather their intolerance of other Americans. Their marriages are in jeopardy if the GLBT community can walk down an aisle. Their children are going to be molested if you have to rent to a same sex couple. Fear…fear…fear the queer.

Bill O’Reilly’s hit piece on Dr. Tiller is a training tape for Christian Fundamentalist Terrorists. Never did he ask the woman interviewed how she, as a 13 year old, got pregnant, who was the father, or where her parents were when she underwent an abortion at Dr. Tiller’s clinic. I’m sure O’Reilly’s drivel will insist on personal accountability for the murderer. I’m sure he won’t be in line for any “accountability” for calling the doctor “Tiller the baby-killer” or his clinic a “death mill.”

Are anti-choice groups celebrating today? An abortion doctor is dead so women won’t have unwanted pregnancies!

The “war on terror” needs to include domestic religious, fundamentalist terrorists.
Who is next?

  1. An appropriately lengthy sentence. Not to mention a new definition of “pro-life.”

  2. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving prick. What anti abortion advocate would shoot someone in a CHURCH? Oh, that’s right, a whacko Christian Fundamentalist Terrorist.

  3. Shannyn, thanks for writing about this. You said something that needs to be put into the mainstream thought. I am so tired of the abortion issue. Pro-Choice covers all of the options. I live in Kansas which was considered a “free state” but today it is being governed more and more by fundies.

  4. Thank you, Shannyn.

Flying Pig Ranch, our family lived in Kansas (SE corner) in the early 1990’s. It is so sad to see what has happened.

  5. Will Palin be charged when her rhetoric inspires an already close to the edge fanatic into a violent and deadly act? My once disgust and frustration of her political antics has now turned into an orange level security alert in my awareness as I truly believe she has stepped over the border and may provoke deadly consequences. What is so terrifying is the acceptance of murder and violence in the republican party..where is the voice of sanity?

  6. Thank You! The fact that he gets life in prison repulses me so much. Basically, this terrorist gets to live on our tax dollars. Why was he shown the mercy he didn’t give Dr Tiller and his family?

  7. Nice post. This whole thing about coining every criminal a terrorist, bothers me. What i mean is, does the kid in the school yard who kicks a lunch box become a terrorist? The whole vernacular is not quite right. Cant we just drop the terrorist tag and just say dickhead. Today Osama Binladin Dickhead said ..blaaa blaa blaa. Or …some dickhead walked into a church today and killed a very loved person.

  8. So sorry i should have thrown in the different forms of dickheadedness. Run with it .

  9. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the only reason I think that Bill O’Reilly is stepping up to pay the legal fees of that Marine’s father against Westboro Baptist, is because deep down I think Bill O’Reilly knows and feels responsible for the shooting death of Dr. Tiller. I honestly do believe that somehow in his convoluted mind, he thinks this absolves him of any guilt….I could be wrong…but I think he deep down feels responsible for Dr. Tiller’s death, but will never admit it….

  10. “Fear… fear…fear the queer.” The problem is, if we don’t belong to their churches, we’re all “queer”. They are quick to pass judgment on us who believe in equality regardless of race, creed,…..! They will all go to their own HELL after death. I won’t be there to moan with them.
