Article from Las Vegas Review Journal:
http://www.lvrj.com/news/exxon-valdez-oil-risks-spur-warning-for-gulf-cleanup-crews-93258964.html
More on the Subject:
The workers who are cleaning up the oil in the Gulf need to be aware of the chemicals that will be used. I am one of the 11,000+ cleanup workers from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, who is suffering from health issues from that toxic cleanup, without compensation from Exxon.
My name is Merle Savage; a female general foreman during the Exxon Valdez oil spill (EVOS) beach cleanup in 1989, which turned into 21 years of extensive health deterioration for me, and many other workers. Dr. Riki Ott visited me in 2007 to explain about the toxic spraying on the beaches. She also informed me that Exxon’s medical records and the reports that surfaced in litigation by sick workers in 1994, had been sealed from the public, making it impossible to hold Exxon responsible for their actions.
http://www.rikiott.com
Dr. Riki Ott has devoted her life to taking control from corporations and giving it back to We The People. If corporations continue to control our legal system, then We The People become victims. http://www.MovetoAmend.org
Dr. Riki Ott has written two books; Sound Truth & Corporate Myth$ and Not One Drop. Dr. Ott has investigated and studied the oil spill spraying, and quotes numerous reports in her books, on the toxic chemicals that were used during the 1989 Prince William Sound oily beach cleanup. Black Wave the Film is based on Not One Drop, with interviews of cleanup victims; my interview was featured in the section; Like a War Zone.
http://www.blackwavethefilm.com
Exxon developed the toxic spraying; OSHA, the Coast Guard, and the state of Alaska authorized the procedure; VECO and other Exxon contractors implemented it. Beach crews breathed in crude oil that splashed off the rocks and into the air — the toxic exposure turned into chronic breathing conditions and central nervous system problems, along with other massive health issues. Some of the illnesses include neurological impairment, chronic respiratory disease, leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, liver damage, and blood disease.

My web site is devoted to searching for EVOS cleanup workers who were exposed to the toxic spraying, and are suffering from the same illnesses that I have. Our summer employment turned into a death sentence for many — and a life of unending medical conditions for the rest of us – Exxon’s Collateral Damaged.

Heard you on the Randi show w/Nicole and you ROCK!!! I noticed that you are from Homer and I have an uncle there that I wish would extract his head from his ass. What the hell is in the water there? I love them but they just completely have no idea about what is going on other than what they are fed by a bunch of rich, white, hater right-wing nut jobs. I’m glad you are out there trying to educate and inform, keep up the great work from CA.

Shannyn:
Will you be on 1020 Fox (Internal Corporate Republican) Propaganda Network?
I will have to get the real news and commentary (such as Randi Rhodes, Thom Hartman, Stephanie Miller) from alternative sources.
If you and other local progressive radio hosts are on AM 1020, I will use radio.
If not, I will not listen to radio. All the media does is serve corporate interest and mind molding to the public–propaganda, propaganda, trivial mindless irrelevant nonsense.
I miss critical, investigative, analytical, and thoughtful objective news. There no such news, commentary, even on NPR. I am feeling increasing isolated and cut off.
I will buy a satellite radio, that can pick up radio stations from Canada, and other countries.
I hope soon to see in person your show.
Take care and stay on the air

On June 25 at 11am, people around the world will have an opportunity to join hands and draw a line in the sand against expanding offshore oil drilling while championing clean energy. Join concerned Alaskans in Anchorage on Saturday, June 25th at 11am at Point Woronzof to say NO to offshore oil drilling and YES to clean energy. Join hands to protect our future!

Will be interesting to see if the stonewalling Murkowski will be shown today to have known about the crook on her staff for two years before he pled to a 150,000 fine and ten months in the hooosgal.
Hope Shanny goes into this today

I have searched your website, and while I find information about the radio show and an archive of the tv show, I can’t find information about the time and station of the tv show. I searched tv guide, and found it now on Saturday 3:00 pm on ABC (13). Is it repeated at any other time?

I am a student and work 2 jobs. I don’t know how anyone can put down unions that are there to protect the rights of the working people . I wonder if Kevin would be so critical if we did not have unions and what his life would be like without weekends, paid time off, employee benefits and overtime. Its a good question to ask him if he emails you again . Take care. Love your show.

Shannon. In one of your long ago writing’s you mentioned various salt contents for smoked salmon brines. What is some of your experience with these brines. I use 1-1/2 cups salt per gallon.
